Change your MIND, Change your LIFE
Posted by Jarrod Collier on
I never fully understood the concept of that good old phrase most of us heard so frequently. "It's all in your mind". Or "Change your mind, change your life". It never made much sense. Until I was forced to....
You see when I finally decided on getting clean and sober and REMAINING that way, I knew change was a necessity. I started taking baby steps. The whole crawl before you walk approach.
After discovering my reason WHY and looking at my current situation, the first change I made was reading. Yep the thing I used to believe I hated, i ended up actually liking! The first book was by an author by the name of T. Harv Eker titled "Secrets of The Millionaire Mind". The second was "The 10x Rule" by Grant Cardone. This books were a game changer! From the opening chapter they spoke directly to me and the current situation I was in. Broke, depressed and addicted to drugs and alcohol. Definitely check these out!
Next, I got active! I had a routine because I didn't work at the time. Got up, would walk/jog 3 miles on the treadmill then do 100 push-ups, sit-ups and arm curls. It got my mind and body ready to take on the day. Made me get outside and start paying attention to the little things I had been taking for granted for YEARS! Just being alive and seeing the sun or hearing the birds became such a blessing.
Slowly things started to fall into place. I got a job that I was able to keep, grow in and make decent money. Before that, i worked (when I could keep a job haha) to simply blow it on Friday and Saturday to party :(. The job gave me a sense of purpose. I was getting on my feet one step at a time.
I'm still growing daily. I continue to feed my mind by listening to audiobooks, motivational speakers and reading. I have also started a Real Estate investment company where we purchase vacant homes and help solve problems. Now I can focus on my passion which is truly seeing people win and change their lives after suffering from addiction and depression.
